Pakistan Resolution Day Celebrated at Embassy in Belarus
On 21 April, the Embassy of Pakistan in Belarus hosted a reception to mark the 85th anniversary of Pakistan Resolution Day. The event was graced by H.E. Mr. Denis Moroz, Minister of Energy of the Republic of Belarus, as the Chief Guest. Over 150 distinguished attendees, including ambassadors, Belarusian dignitaries, media representatives, and members of the Pakistani diaspora, joined the celebrations.
In his address, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Belarus, H.E. Mr. Muhemmed Aejaz, reflected on the historic significance of March 23rd, paying tribute to the visionary leadership of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and the founding fathers, whose struggle culminated in Pakistan’s independence on August 14, 1947.
The Ambassador highlighted Pakistan’s global standing as the second-largest Muslim nation, with a population of 240 million and a thriving economy boasting a GDP of $1.58 trillion (PPP). He commended the 11 million overseas Pakistanis for their vital contributions, particularly their $30 billion annual remittances, which play a pivotal role in the country’s socio-economic development.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to equality and justice, the Ambassador emphasized the nation’s active engagement in multilateral and regional forums, advocating for peace, cooperation, and sustainable development.
On Pakistan-Belarus relations, Ambassador Aejaz underscored three decades of growing partnership, marked by mutual respect and collaboration. He noted the recent high-level exchanges, including the visit of Belarusian President to Pakistan in November 2024 and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Minsk earlier this month, as key drivers of bilateral momentum.
In his remarks, Belarusian Energy Minister Denis Moroz extended warm congratulations on Pakistan’s National Day, acknowledging the nation’s remarkable progress since the Lahore Resolution of 1940. He lauded the deepening ties between the two nations over the past 30 years.
Minister Moroz highlighted collaboration within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), as well as advancements in trade, educational and cultural exchanges. He expressed gratitude to Ambassador Muhemmed Aejaz and the Embassy team for their efforts and conveyed optimism for enhanced Belarus-Pakistan cooperation in the future.
A special highlight of the evening was a live musical performance by students from the Gymnasium-College under the State Academy of Music, who presented instrumental renditions of Pakistani national songs, captivating the audience.
Concluding the event, Ambassador Aejaz thanked the Belarusian government for its unwavering support and expressed confidence in the continued strengthening of bilateral relations in the years ahead.
